In a note to staff that CNN obtained, New York Magazine editor David Haskell shared that they recently learned about Olivia Nuzzi’s relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. This relationship began in December, after Nuzzi wrote a profile of him, and it ended in August.
Haskell stated that while they didn’t find any bias in her reporting, Nuzzi created the appearance of a conflict by not disclosing the relationship, which went against their policies and could harm readers’ trust. He expressed pride in the team’s work but acknowledged this situation is distracting.
Nuzzi was previously engaged to Ryan Lizza, who is a chief Washington correspondent for Politico. In a note to readers in the Playbook PM newsletter, Lizza mentioned that because of his connection to Nuzzi, he would not be involved in any coverage of Kennedy at Politico.
